Mirrors formed in January of 2017, starting out in the Christchurch bar scene and specialising in a range of pop/funk/rock/blues music. Since then, we have enjoyed entertaining people across the country through a wide range of events from weddings to corporate events.
Since the age of 3, Susie has been belting out tunes for anyone who will listen. Originally trained in classical music, she has over time delved into the contemporary side of music Inspired by powerhouse vocalists such as Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey. In 2015, Susie completed a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Music and History at the University of Auckland, then moving on to obtain a Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning at the University of Canterbury.
During the week she works as a Social Science teacher at a local high school, while on the weekends taking on the role of lead singer of Mirrors. Susie has enjoyed many successes both as a covers musician and through her original music. Having established Mirrors with husband Regan in 2017, Susie has been entertaining guests at weddings across the country, bars such as Fat Eddie's and Dux Central, as well as private functions. In 2020 Mirrors released their first original single, ‘Only You’, which received recognition on national radio and earned a placing in the NZ Top 20 Singles Chart.
Regan is a guitarist, songwriter, producer and educator based in Christchurch. Regan completed his Bachelor of Music Arts degree at Ara Institute of Canterbury’s Music Arts Programme in 2013. He then went on to gain a Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning at the University of Canterbury.
Regan is currently the Head of Music at a local secondary school, as well as lead guitarist of Mirrors. With over 15 rears of guitar experience, 10 years of this has been dedicated to performing in multiple bands and being involved in national tours, as well as weddings and corporate functions across the country. His Inspirations include artists such as John Mayer and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Emily is a Christchurch based musician who works around the country as a full time bassist, performer and tutor. She completed her Bachelor of Music Arts at Ara Institute of Canterbury's Music Arts Programme; Jazz School in 2018. She has a huge passion for the electric bass and has ten years of playing under her belt. Joe Dart, Victor Wooten, Kinga Glyk, James Jamerson and Jaco Pastorius are just a few of her inspirations.
Alongside Mirrors she is currently performing with original artist ‘PRINS’ , whom have spent 2023 touring the world, in places such as the Philippines, Spain and London. Including popular European festivals like 'Primavera Sound' and 'Castaway'. Emily made her debut theatre performance in The Court Theatres 2019 show 'Hedwig and the Angry Inch'. And in recent years, band for the Isaac Theatre Royals show 'Cinderella' & 'Beauty & The Beast' with GMG productions.
Tarn is a drummer, artist, producer, and songwriter based between Christchurch and Wellington. Having studied Commercial Music at Massey University, Tarn is now working as a freelance music producer and songwriter, as well as drumming for Mirrors.
Tarn started playing with Mirrors in 2017 and has now been with them for 7 years, flying down on weekends to Christchurch for gigs.
He has experience playing in jazz, funk, Dixie, and contemporary bands, and is influenced by the likes of Questlove, Steve Jordan, and Homer Steinweiss.
In addition to drumming, Tarn has released three EPs of original music: "Fantasy," "Monarch," and "SugarCoated," all self-written, produced, and performed. He has accumulated over 1.3 million plays on streaming services and has been featured on New Music Friday AU/NZ, UK, and US.
Nick is an in-demand tenor saxophonist and keyboard player with experience performing, recording, and teaching all kinds of music. He has been immersed in the Christchurch music industry since 2014, performing with Mirrors for the last 6 years.
With additional experience in funk, classical, and hip hop music, Nick particularly enjoys playing jazz and rock/pop covers and has appeared alongside several outfits throughout Christchurch. Nick draws inspiration from saxophonists such as Bob Reynolds, Chris Potter, and Kamasi Washington.
Alongside music, Nick has recently graduated from the University of Canterbury with a Bachelor of Laws with Honours and is completing his Bachelor of Commerce. Nick currently works as a graduate at a local law firm.
